The Equus is a premium huarache sandal made by hand to order in Seattle, WA using one of finest leathers in the world called Shell Cordovan on top of a 2mm Vibram rubber sole.

All sandal models with elasticized laces will come with the new elasticized lace attachment system. The new Elasticized Lace attachment system eliminates the wear on the lace at the toe hole, makes our sandals completely flat underfoot, is still interchangeable with traditional laces, looks much cleaner, and uses a strong flexible ribbon between the toes that is the most comfortable solution yet! This system uses a plug that is countersunk, making it completely level with the bottom of the sandal. The ribbon between the toes allows for even the narrowest toe gaps to be comfortable, eliminating the need to use a narrower lace.
All traditional laces will still be tied with the traditional knot, but with this countersunk method the knot will sit deeper in the sandal making it less prone to abrasion and longer lasting. The traditional laces also now include a washer between the knot and sandal to prevent the knot from pulling through the toe hole. All future orders of extra traditional laces will now come with a black washer to install with the lace.

The Equus performs great while running or walking and has an unbeatable unique comfort to it. The Shell Cordovan feels very nice against your skin and molds to your foot very well.
Laces: 3/8", 1/2" or 5/8" elasticized leather laces, Traditional Leather Laces of the highest quality 1/4" or 3/8" or Soft Braided Hemp Laces.

As with all Premium Model Luna Sandals, The Equus can be resoled and new laces can be added.
Orders are generally completed and ready to ship within 2-5 business days from receipt of order and footprints, if custom.

Measure your foot:
1. Stand with your heels against a flat vertical wall. Your heels should be just touching the wall, not pressing into it.
2. Slide a ruler under each foot and take the measurement in centimeters from the wall to the tip of your longest toe.
3. Take the longer of the two foot measurements.
***The chart below lists the actual length and width of our sandal sizes. For wiggle room, take the measurement of your foot and add 1/2 cm or more. Find the size below that best fits the length.
For example, our Head Craft Monkey's feet measure exactly 29 cm. He added 1/2 cm and chose a size 11.5 which is 29.51 cm long. The size 11.5 fits him perfectly!
You can also measure the widest part of your forefoot to make sure it is not considerably wider or narrower than the sandal.
For example, our Head Craft Monkey's feet measure about 11.5 cm wide at the forefoot. The size 11.5, at 11.85 cm wide is the perfect width for him.

Question:
What is the total thickness of the Equus and why such a difference in sole thickness from the original? Thanks.
Answer:
The total thickness is about 4mm. The thickness of the Equus leather varies slightly but it is usually right around 2mm, plus the 2mm Vibram sole equals 4mm total.
The Original Luna is 6mm thick and is a much lighter neoprene type rubber. The Equus is a more dense sole so it needs less material to keep its form and protect your feet.
Question:
For the custom foot print, do you need tracings of both feet?
Answer:
We do not need both feet, however a large amount of people have different sized feet. We recommend tracing both feet.
Question:
I see you do custom sizes. Do you do child sizes?
Answer:
Yes we do. We will even give you a discount on children sandals. The children sizes have to be custom at this time.
Question:
Please comment on the approximate lifespan of this sandal for pavement running.
Answer:
The Equus is made to be a long lasting sandal for everyday wearing and running. We would estimate 1000 pavement miles of gentle pavement running for someone accustomed to the lightness of barefoot running. Street scuffing will wear the sole much more quickly.
Question:
What should i keep in mind when selecting the width of the elasticized leather?
Answer:
The wider the lace the more secure it will keep the sandal on your foot. If you have very large feet the 5/8 is probably your best option. The added strength will help keep the larger sole from stretching the lace. That being said, I think the 1/2 is a very nice middle ground and would recommend them if your not sure which is right for you.
